Details
Participating in sports should be a positive experience, and children have the right to feel safe when they take part in this. Regrettably, this is not always the case. The emerging of historical allegations of child sex abuse in children's football, gymnastics and many others has reiterated the prevalence of abuse in sport settings and the importance of safeguarding of children and young people in sport.
Sports leaders have a responsibility to protect those in their charge from all types of abuse.
It is important that coaches/sports leaders are familiar with, and can recognise, any indicators that may suggest a child is a victim of abuse. Also to be aware of the appropriate action to take if they have any concerns regarding a child's safety.
At STC our experts in this field can help you put the right policies, protections, procedures in place and offer regular up to to date training that can help you keep children in sport safe.
